After my first half marathon event, I decided to try some local area events to keep running with hope they would help me achieved my new goals. The Monster Mash 5K/10K event was held at Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, Texas on Halloween morning. I made the drive over…. in costume. Event participants are encouraged to wear a costume during the run.

This was a fun event. A fun run. Lots of costumes and a number of participants. This was my first 5K running event. The course took the runners around the parking lot of the racetrack and then into the facility itself where we ran around the outside of the racetrack. Overall it was a fun experience and the tone of the event (very laid back and easy going) impressed me. I am glad that I chose this event to be my first 5K. I even finished within my personal goal time.
