This will be a short review/report. This was my second 5K running event…. the Turkey Trot put on annually by the Sea Rim Striders running group based in my local area. It was held at a city park in Beaumont, Texas (it has since moved locations) on Thanksgiving morning every year. I met up with some friends and had a decent run/walk. There was a decent crowd and the course was held on the roads in the park. This park is something that my grandfather and my great uncle helped build after they returned from WWII so it holds a special place in my family history.
The event had great tech style shirts that were given away at packet pickup. Many people wore them in the run. I did not, but I have kept mine and still have it to this day. I wore something a little more bright, and the only thing I had orange. Plus it was a little cool so it was the only long sleeve I had at the time. Up to this time all my running events were in warm to all out HOT weather. All in all, I liked the event and have participated in it several times since this first time. Turkey Trots are held around the country so I suggest that you find one and enjoy.
